"We had hundreds of inspiration photos and still could not choose a tile." Lily's new build is modern Mediterranean: rendered walls, arches, warm timber. The ensuite had to feel connected to that architecture without tipping into theme-park territory, and the folder of saved images was making the decision harder, not easier.
More inspiration, less clarity
Every saved bathroom pulled the design in a different direction. The breakthrough was a constraint, not another option: the whole room would be built from two tiles, one foundation and one feature, and everything else would have to work with them.
Samples against the render and the timber
When the Bicheno beige and the Whyalla peach samples arrived, Lily put them against the walnut cabinetry sample and the exterior render colour. It was the first time the ensuite felt like part of the house rather than a separate decision.
How the room came together
The Bicheno Travertine Look Beige runs across the main floor and walls as the warm stone foundation. The Whyalla Peach Terracotta Look Subway is held to one curved feature wall behind the bath, where the softer terracotta tone picks up the render and the linen curtains. Walnut vanity, brushed brass, one arch. Mediterranean by material, contemporary by restraint.
Restricting the palette also simplifies the order: one batch per tile, quantities worked out once. The maths is in how many tiles you actually need.
